Report from Rod Hann on last Sunday’s (27th July) Jeff Clew Memorial Run:
The forecast of heavy rain showers was thankfully wrong for the Jeff Clew Memorial Run held on Sunday 30th July, 2017. 40 riders assembled at the Haynes International Motor Museum, Sparkford, before setting off on either the 40 or 70 mile routes around Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire. Suitable coffee stops had been arranged mid route. Returning to Sparkford all judging was done and the prizes were presented by Alison and Pippa (Jeff’s two daughters) before everyone made for home still in the dry. A good day was had by all. The Award Winners were:-
Haynes Shield (Best Overall) John GUY 1929 Terrot Hinton Motorcycles Trophy (Best Veteran or Vintage) Dave JOYCE 1920 Triumph Bob Foster Trophy (Best Post Vintage) Vernon COX 1937 Rudge John Brittain Trophy (Best Post War) Ray FITZGERALD Moto Guzzi Clew Family Trophy (Best Velocette) Gabby Hunt 1960 Venom VMCC Tankard (Best Douglas) Martin FOOT Douglas Mk 1V Denny Trophy (Best Threewheeler) Bryan POPE 1922 Royal Enfield S/C Mike Penn Award (Spirit of the Event) Percy WHELLOCK 1960 BSA S/C Orman Tankard (Best Japanese Machine) Ann WELLS 1981 Honda Best Unrestored Machine Dave ATTERBURY Douglas
Sorry I missed it but had some family over from Australia. Looks like a good turnout and refreshing to see some girder fork bikes taking part 😉 Anyone else got any more photographs?
