SUMMARY:Wessex V & V Section : On the Beaded Edge Run
DESCRIPTION:The Dorset Section has no run planned for Sunday 26th of June so it is a good opportunity to join the Wessex Veteran & Vintage Section for its ‘On the Beaded Edge Run’\, from the Shillingstone Station. If you have a pre-1931 bike bring it along and enjoy the ride. If not why not come along to see the bikes before departure and to wave them away. It is also a good opportunity to inspect the ongoing work to bring the station and track back into use. \nBikes will be arriving at the station from 10.00 for an 11.00 departure. The run is of approximately 42 miles and includes several steep hills so is unlikely to be suitable for veteran machines\, unless the rider is prepared to provide LPA. A coffee stop is planned at the 17th Century Crown Inn at Alvediston. It is expected that the bikes will be returning to the station from about 12.30. \nContact Peter Miller on 01258 721356 for any further information.

DESCRIPTION:Gillingham in Gear is happening this year on the 11 June at the Red Lion in Gillingham. Dorset Section will have a stand at the show to\, hopefully\, encourage new members to try out the VMCC. \nHowever\, we need volunteers to help man the stand and also bikes for display. Bikes do not have to be concours condition\, but interesting\, and more importantly well used in club events. You can either leave your bike on the stand all day or if you prefer ride in\, put the bike on the stand for a few hours then ride home. The show starts at 09.00 and finishes around 4.00. \nAndy Grew is co-ordinating our stand and would like to know how many members are interested in helping and/or displaying. DESCRIPTION:The Blandford Run takes place on Sunday 10th April and will commence as in recent years\, before covid caused disruption\, from the Corn Exchange in the Market Place at Blandford Forum. \nThe run starts at 11am and tea or coffee and biscuits will be available from approximately 10am within the shambles area of the Corn Exchange.\nDorset Council has recently introduced charges on Sundays for all car parks under their management\, including the Blandford Market Place. Arrangements have been made for the bikes to be parked without charge within the area defined by the bollards immediately in front of the Corn Exchange. \nThe outward route covers 44.9 miles to a lunch stop at the Witchampton and Critchel Club\, where a roast dinner will be available for those requiring food for £9.95; a room behind the bar has been allocated for our use. Please tell the run organiser at the start of the run if you would like lunch so that the Club can be informed of likely numbers. DESCRIPTION:New Year’s Day Run \nEntrants should gather on the pavement outside the Poet’s Corner Café at Sturminster Newton from about 9.30 for departure at 10.45. \nThe run\, of just over 36 miles\, is on country roads\, which following the recent wet spell are likely to be muddy. It will end at the Virginia Ash at Henstridge. The run is being organised to coincide with a classic car run and will be a charity run in support of the Somerset & Dorset Air Ambulance. A charity donation/entry fee of £5 will be requested from each rider and it is anticipated that the riders will receive in return a £5 voucher to be spent at Harts of Stur\, who are sponsoring the event. \nWe will not be organising a Section New Year’s lunch this year owing to the Covid situation. If members wish to have lunch at the Virginia Ash they should contact the ‘Ash’ directly. The number is 01963 363868.
