25 bikes and riders, plus several pillions, joined the Chairman today for the annual Border run. Starting from the top of Gold Hill, Shaftesbury, the 48-mile route headed roughly South to Cranborne, then East, diverting before Fordingbridge towards Salisbury and finishing at Ansty PYO farm shop, where tea and cake were consumed in large quantities. This is the way.
The Chairman, in his role as Pravda spokesperson, insisted the weather was warm and sunny; any light showers the riders thought they may have encountered were, of course, imaginary!
Most of the supporters seemed to enjoy the simple route, deliberately set out as a counterpoint to the twisty ‘Dorset motorways’ we often seem to ride, complete with grass growing down the centre! The only breakdown we are aware of was our friend from West Wilts section, Martin Hirst, whose battery failed to match his enthusiasm, requiring a bump start to resume progress.
Next weekend it’s the Tiddlers and Big Tiddlers run, let’s hope for good weather. And cake.
