Yesterday was meant to be our annual Good Friday Hot X Bun Run. Everything was ready: route to Aunt Fanny’s Café near Wimborne sorted, route sheets printed, hot X buns bought, pavilion booked and Easter Bunnies recruited.
But after the torrential rain over the preceding few days, on safety grounds, it was felt unwise to hold the run. So we held a “social” instead! I want to thank everyone who came! We had about 25 people, mainly in cars but a few hardy souls on bikes. All the hot x buns were eaten, and copious amounts of tea and coffee was consumed. Thanks to your generous donations, we even managed to raise £58 for Section funds, and hopefully this will go towards our next donation to Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.
Rich Kinsey from Trowbridge deserves a special mention; WhatApp message received from him while we were all nice and dry in the pavilion: The lure of hot cross buns was too great to resist so I set off today to join you in deepest Dorset, but about a mile your side of Guys March I rode through a flood, killed the engine and filled my left boot with water. Undeterred I pressed on, but when I came upon the next flood, which was very long and quite deep looking, I decided to call it a day. Currently warming up in Subway at Shaftesbury. Hope to see you some time soon..in the dry ! Happy Easter..Rich. Good try Rich!
See you all next weekend for the Blandford Run…Phil guarantees better weather 🙂
