We welcomed Sarah Banister as our speaker for March Club Night who talked about her career as a sidecar racer.
She started out as passenger for her father on classic outfits but has now graduated to driving F2 passengered by her partner and technical expert Tony. She showed some dashcam videos, which looked pretty terrifying! She has raced a few seasons now and hopes one day to enter the TT, she has already done the NW200 and events in Europe.
She brought along her outfit for us to have a look at which is powered by a Suzuki GSX 600 engine.The frame is of tubular steel construction as required by TT regulations.
After her presentation Sarah, and Tony, answered many questions and also showed us around the sidecar.
The speaker at our April Club Night will be our very own Simon Barker, talking about his varied career working on machines as diverse as Honda 50’s and Concorde. An evening definately not to be missed, put the 9 April in your diary.
A couple of photos of the sidecar outfit below, unfortunately it was a bit dark outside the Halsey but you can see how low to the ground it is and how cramped for 2 people.
