The August Run is always popular but this year extremely popular. We had 31 bikes sign on, including 3 lady riders, and 4 pillions. The age of bikes ranged from 1930 to 2025 and included British, German, Japanese, American and, of course Italian. As far as I’m aware no one broke down or got lost, impressive for that number.

We started at The Virginia Ash, Henstridge, which opened specially for us, and many enjoyed one of Tony’s coffees. As well as running ‘The Ash’ Tony also has a coffee roasting business in Lincolnshire commuting between the two. Apparently business is good as he is currently producing 8 tons of coffee a month and could sell more! Must be all the VMCC runs nationally consuming it.

The run itself was pretty uneventful the roads were quiet, views fantastic and some nice twisty bits to enjoy. Only 40 miles to Lakeside Kitchen at Todber. Although I had only booked for about 15 – 20 they coped well and everyone got fed. Very pleasant cafe that I’m sure we’ll use again, especially as they have a concrete parking area, so much easier on a bike.

The feature photo above is specially for Ken, showing what a Yamaha Tenere should look like and to, possibly, shame him into occasionally wiping his over with an oily rag!

You may notice that our ever industrious webmaster has made some changes to our website, but don’t worry it may look different but still has the same great(ish) content. We have no runs next weekend but return on Saturday 6 September with Bernard’s Big Road Run, 9.30 from Cranbourne Garden Centre, BH21 5PP.
