I think Ken has finally understood the concept of the Bluebell Run – that we should see some Bluebells! The sight and scent of the Bluebells was amazing and the weather perfect for riding. Many thanks to Ken for organising the run, although I fear this may be his last as he may want to get out while he’s ahead.
No breakdowns for me this week as sanity was resumed as I rode Italian.
Ken’s report below with photos from Paul W, Kevin C and myself. Also the added treat of a video from Paul W, a master class in classic motorcycle riding.
We had 24 people sign on for the Bluebell run this year, three more than last year, I thought we would get more than that given that the weather was pretty much perfect, sunny with a slight cool breeze. PW joined us at Okeford Fitzpaine, so you could say we had 24 ½.
The route was the same as last year, but, it is a rather good one, and there were lots of Bluebells. There was a good mix of bikes from different era’s which is good to see, it would be a bit boring if we all rode the same machinery. I was being followed by John Harrison on his Harley 45 with foot clutch, without any problems. A foot clutch is one step to many for me, I can deal with hand change and even a lever throttle… but I think I will give a foot clutch a miss. I think everyone enjoyed the run and Round Chimneys did a good job, given that they had one or two staff members absent. Also Lo’s café, although busy, did a sterling job.
Regards
Ken D
Our next run is the Hedgerow Run on Saturday 2 May from Cranborne Garden Centre for a scenic trip around the New Forest. We will also receive the 80th Anniversary Relay Rally baton from Stonehenge Section at the start, so come and meet people from another section.
