Club Night – Chris Kaye : The Trail of ‘98

During the Centenary of the Klondike gold rush of 1898 Chris and Barbara Kaye followed in the footsteps of the Stampeders, hoping that they would be able to find gold.

The talk tells of a journey undertaken by Barbara and Chris from Seattle, via Skagway, to Dawson City in the Yukon (A re-enactment of the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898).  It is a Powerpoint Presentation with 109 slides, lasting about one hour. The show includes images and stories from our journey inter-cut with images and stories from a century before. The main features are a five day crossing of the Chilkoot Trail, carrying all food and camping equipment, and then a journey by small boat for 400 miles down the Yukon River from Whitehorse to Dawson City.

Please Note : this is a change to the speaker in our printed Programme 2020 Card.  Due to ill health, Peter Williams is unable to join us and Chris Kaye has kindly stepped in at short notice.
