Photos from Autumn Leaves Run 2025

I really enjoyed Sunday’s run, good company and easy route so could look at the views. It’s always a pleasure to visit Yandle’s Cafe and I thought they coped very well with a large group descending on them at once, I don’t think anyone had to wait too long for their order. The full breakfasts, vegetarian and carnivorous, looked excellent.

I thought I may have to go and get my van when Steve E had a problem starting his Triumph, but he got it sorted and on his way.

Thanks to Bernard for yet another run, his report below.

A good run, 21 riders signed on, including 2 ladies. Forecast was set fair, cool to start with, but it is Autumn, and some sun later. The Virginia Ash opened early for us so we could purchase a coffee, and I think we made it worth while for them.

All set off OK heading East then North to Wincanton and Bruton, then looping to the West, skirting Ansford, through Somerton and South down to Martock.

Coffee/lunch stop, dependant on your appetite at Yandles, thankfully not too busy and able to accommodate us. If you have not been to Yandles before, as well as a decent café they are more a specialist woodworking and craft centre. The tool shop is the most specialised I have ever come across, well worth a visit, I should have mentioned this at the start of the run, sorry.

Onwards from Yandles, this year avoiding the Roman Road through Dinnington, we went via Haselbury Mill to join the A30 to West Coker, then back roads to cross the A37 to Stoford, thence to Sherborne, to rejoin the A30 and back to The Virginia Ash. Generally the route was fairly traffic free, no horse riders! and not much sign of the Autumn leaves,  but slow coming down from Somerton to Martock and as far as I know no breakdowns or incidents. Not too many completed the return run. It was good to chat to a couple of our new members who did make it back at the pub, hope we see them again.
