Another excellent Christmas Dinner, many thanks to Paul and Howard for organising and sorting the finances, Pauls report below.
54 members packed out the Sherborne golf club, which opened especially for us to celebrate Christmas. A colourful evening, with several unlikely-looking elves in attendance, plus many festive jumpers!
We enjoyed a fine, three-course dinner, with main courses including Turkey, roast beef or Sea bass, plus a choice of delicious starters and desserts.
David and Tom organised a superb raffle and ticket sales were very brisk; thank you both.
Special thanks go to the bar & catering team who managed service mostly using volunteers from the GC as they were suffering from several staff absentees through illness yet wanted our event to go ahead as planned; I think the majority of the diners were unaware of the chaos you had to endure. However, our ex-chairman, pressed into coffee-serving duties won’t be asked again, having tripped whilst carrying a tray of drinks and sent flying across the the room; let’s leave it to the professionals in future.
