Obviously not a Dorset VMCC event but I thought you may be interested in the recent meeting of Laverdas to celebrate 50 years of the Laverda Jota. I haven’t seen the official total but I would think there were close to 200 Laverdas of all types including several interesting specials and race machinary.
Several of the original dealers were present including Roger and Richard Slater who were the sole importers for many years and who created the Jota by tuning a standard 3CL.
Also present was Pete ‘PK’ Davies winner of 3 Avon Streetbike Championships in the 70’s on a Jota, together with a collection of some of his trophies.
For the rivet counters there was also a lineup of every model of Jota from 75 to 83.
Special mention has to be made of Malcolm Cox’s turbo charged Laverda in a Harris frame – totally berzerk!
Excellent event with riders from all over the country showing that Laverdas are still a competant and reliable long distance machine, no bias here of course!
If you attend any interesting events you think others may like to see, send me some pictures and some words and I’ll post it on our website.
