Weather was kinder than expected for this years run to the ‘Far North’ so 16 plus 4 pillions signed on at Blackmarsh Farm. We welcomed new members Wayne and Maggie for their first run with the VMCC.
It was an easy 30 mile run to the Rocky Mountain Cafe, Shepton Mallett, via Bruton and Evercreech. We had a table on the patio to enjoy a leisurely lunch, the staff as usual were very friendly and the food good. We also met Somerset Section members Chris & Carol who had arrived early to take advantage of a breakfast.
Our 17th participant, Bryan, then arrived after a nightmare getting to the start. He filled up with petrol in Blandford but was unable to pay as the garage’s card reader had failed so he had to wait an hour for it to be fixed. But he joined us in the end!
Most then decided to head for home rather than follow my carefully crafted route, so we did too! Caught a brief shower at Lydford on Fosse but then arrived home in sunshine, didn’t even need to clean the bike.
Our next run is Bernards Autumn Leaves Run on Sunday 12 October, 11.00 from The Virginia Ash, Henstridge, BA8 0PL
