Photos from the Big Road Run 2025

by

Numbers up from last years 9, this year 12 signed on. Meeting at Cranborne Garden Centre, we were pleased to welcome new member John Harrison riding a 1942 Harley. We were also met by non riding Ray, Linda and Marie. We all set off OK, although a route sheet run most followed Dave Bramley through Alderholt, Fordingbridge and across the New Forest. We all got across the A36 OK although in batches, that was the most hazardous part of the run. We had a little hiccup at Wellow, direction error on the sheet, but Dave knew where we were going so shortly arrived at Carlo’s ice-creams and cafe for an early break.

Proceeding from Carlo’s it was country lanes til we hit the main road to Romsey and skirting south of Winchester to Twyford. Country lanes again until we hit the A272 and down to West Meon, sadly double white lines nearly all the way, i am sure it was not like that last time? Just around the corner at the junction with the A32 is Loomies biker cafe, quite busy but not as manic as I’ve seen it before. Not many old bikes there, plenty of rice rockets and cruisers. Greasy spoon snacks for most of us and a good rest and sit in the sun.

Leaving Loomies we backtracked to Romsey and then down to the A31 and across to Cadnam where we headed north west to cross the New Forest again, through Fordingbridge and Alderholt, we then turned south to Verwood to Barry’s home. Barry very kindly provided us with tea/coffee and an excellent selection of tasty cakes. A very big thankyou Barry, and that was the end of a very pleasant and successful run.

Thanks to Ray and Bernard for the photos, and many thanks to Bernard for organising yet another run.

Remember we have 3 more runs in September, Last of the Summer Wine on the Sunday 14th, Vintage and Veteran Run on Sunday 21st and the Autumn Run on Saturday 27th go on get some miles in before it gets too cold!
