Third year we have held the Fish & Chip Run and the third year we’ve had exceptional weather. Our luck must run out soon!
The picture above shows a group of unruly yobs, sitting on a bench eating chips and looking for trouble. I thought Okeford Fitzpaine was far too posh for this sort of rabble.
Anyway, 19 riders plus 3 pillions signed on at The Halsey Arms for the usual 20 mile run over Bulbarrow, Delcombe Woods, Winterborne Whitechurch and Okeford Hill to Okeford Fitzpaine. A nice easy run with stunning views.
Paul & Bethany of The Pilgrim Fryer did very well to serve us quickly with excellent fish & chips, several commented that it was of better quality than their own local chip shop. This was a tremendous result because the temperature in their van was 42C!
The ride home, although pleasant, was a bit difficult as I was riding into the very bright setting sun, still I’ll settle for that for such a pleasant evening.
Thanks to Ray & Paul W for additional photos. Remember the Levels Run this Saturday, 10.00 from Blackmarsh Farm Sherborne DT9 4JX. I have a cracking route to the Avalon Marshes planned that shows the Somerset Levels at their best. See you on Saturday.
