From the high turnout on a cold, dull morning it would seem that Ray hit on a good idea for an alternative to our usual New Years Day run. Many thanks to Ray and Linda for organising the day and also to David and Simon for additional photos.
The feature photo above, curiously, has an MZ parked under the sign….
17 riders signed on for a dry but cold ride, besides the regular Dorset members we were joined by riders from Somerset and Stonehenge Sections. A pleasant 15 mile route on roads we don’t normally use, before turning onto the army ranges on Salisbury Plain. A narrow well surfaced track ran for 2 miles with extensive views across the plain. As I was following at the rear the sight of the bikes all in line as far as I could see was unreal.
Imber was very busy with families, cyclists and four wheel drive off road clubs all out for the day. The church was packed to the extent that it was hard to see the photos and information boards that depicted the old village, maybe worth another visit?
We returned back to the garden centre cafe at Crockerton for hot drinks. Regards Ray & Linda
Our next run is Bernard’s Winter Run on Sunday 11 January from The Udder Farmshop, East Stour get your thermals ready!
