Sunny weather tempted 6 tiddlers out along with their larger friends, this is the most we’ve had for a few years. The Triumph Tiger Cub brought along by Nigel J was the actual bike he took his test on many, many years ago! My preparation for the run did not go well as I wanted to use my 124 Gilera which although it did start and run round the block faultlessly, it then decided it wouldn’t run again. All diagnostics have not yet revealed the fault, and it still won’t start. Hopefully I’ll get it going before next years Tiddlers Run!
This year, remarkably, we did not have any breakdowns although Nigel P’s James was not keen to start but then warmed to the task and completed the run. Quite different to the usual carnage on our Tiddler Run, even Chris got round without his spark plug blowing out.
Although the route sheet was brief none of us got lost except for Brian who followed another rider out of our coffee stop who turned out to be going home.
Thanks to Chris for organising the day, his report below.
Tiddler Run on Sunday saw 13 riders sign on, the sun was out and a nice simple route – what could possibly go wrong? Well, the Tour De France! We got to follow 200 push bikes, very fast downhill, very slow uphill.
I tried a route sheet which followed sign posts to the next village , it seemed to work Ok.
When we got to the Old Brewery the table I had booked for 15 people only had 6 chairs, but a round up of spare chairs by greasy bikers sorted that out. I misheard ‘last tea’ for Andy’s order for a large latte, I am deaf so that caused a good laugh.
6 of us made it back to The Green Man where the meat balls seemed to go down well. So all in all a good day out.
Chris
Remember our next run this Sunday from the Virginia Ash, Henstridge 10.30 for 11.00 where normal service will be resumed and the Tiddlers can be left at home.
