Another Vintage and Veteran Run expertly organised by Rod and Carol. Lunch was, as always, excellent and several of us went back for seconds! Many thanks to Rod and Carol lets hope they make their Golden Jubilee in a few years time.
No one had to use the recovery vehicles, just as well as Nick lost the door off his trailer on the way to Leigh. Only one machine malfuntion with the clutch on Colin’s Norton misbehaving but he managed to get back to Leigh unaided.
Additional photos from Paul W, warning one has been digitally enhanced, Paul doesn’t normally look this good!
Rod’s report on the day below.
Sunday 21st September saw the 47th running of the Veteran and Vintage Run from Leigh Village Hall. 10 entrants signed on. The weather was very kind to us as it was sunny and dry all day. A circular route of 25 miles took us to Round Chimneys Farm at Glanvilles Wootton for a pleasant coffee stop. A further 18 miles returned everyone back to Leigh where about 25 people sat down to lunch. All very social and convivial. The prizegiving came next and the awards given were as follows:-
Most Desirable Vintage machine – Steve EDGINGTON – 1927 Scott
The Bovenizer Trophy for the Greatest Combined Age of machine and rider – Nigel PERCY – 1930 James
The Machine Judged to be in the Most Original Condition – Paul WIRDNAM – 1929 James
Our thanks to everyone who either rode and/or attended.
Rod Hann
