Report from Phil Allen following last Sunday’s Mince Pie Run. Thanks for organising this Phil, always difficult at this time of year — I think you did well with 12 riders on a rather damp and drizzly day.
For the last run of the year the Mince Pie Run from Blandford Forum was rather a cold one l am told it was 4 deg at the best, anyway 12 bikes signed on for the run with a very nice Vincent 500 Series A amongst the usual BMW, MZ, Triumphs and the odd Italian & Japanese bikes.
Of course being the Mince Pie Run it would have been rude not to have a mince pie before we ventured out (thanks to Sue for making them). The run went to Milton Abbas, across to Okeford Fitzpaine and wind our way to Compton Abbas Airodrome to get warm. Second part of the run attended by 4 bikes went to Ashmore, Stubhampton, over to Langton Long and back to Blandford a total of 44 miles. Surprisingly the roads were fairly good compared to when l did the Recce .
