With perfect weather, the bikes and riders turned up in droves for the start of our Memorial Run 2018 at a new venue for us, the Visit Hillbrush centre in Mere.
Ray and Linda Dickinson put a cracking 46.5 mile route together and managed to squeeze in three significant hill climbs: the first on the A350 heading south into Shaftesbury, this was quickly followed by ZigZag Hill on the B3081 heading towards Tollard Royal and then finally, heading north on the B3091 back into the centre of Shaftesbury via St. John’s Hill. I’ll be placing my order for a set of new Burman clutch plates in the morning…
Lunch was at Orchard Garden Centre in Gillingham. Linda and Ray tell me that 37 people signed on, we had no breakdowns; we’re not sure how many got lost.
