Photos from the Hedgerow Run 2026

One of my favourite runs of the year didn’t disappoint. The weather was ideal for the entire run with the New Forest looking superb, even the animals were well behaved including, surprisingly, the donkeys!

But before we started we received the 80th Anniversary Relay Rally Baton from Stonehenge Section. The picture above shows Paul Winch giving the baton to our President Marie at Cranborne Garden Centre. We will be passing on the baton to South Dorset Section on the 14 May at No 23 Coffee Shop, Henstridge Airfield, for it to continue it’s journey around the South West Area.

I’m pleased to report that Italian bikes are gradually taking over with 3 Guzzi’s and Aprilia along with my Laverda – you know it makes sense!

But then we were off for a scenic ride of 26 miles which included a visit to WW2 airfield at Stoney Cross . Lunch was at the Red Shoot Inn which was very pleasant. Rather nail biting trying to park safely on a gravel carpark with only a centre stand! Must investigate fitting a sidestand.

Then off for a 37 mile run back to Lo’s cafe at Pimperne, via Fordingbridge, Sixpenny Hanley and Compton Abbas Airfield. Not many came back to the cafe as it was by that time spitting with rain, which soon got much harder. I had a thoroughly drenching ride home, my boots are still drying out.

Many thanks to Dave for organising the day, which as always used different roads than which we are familiar.

Thanks also to Mandy for taking photos on the move through the New Forest, including photo evidence of the pigs that Andrew missed.

Our next run is Giants weekend on the 23/24 May. Sunday is fully booked but join us on Saturday evening for a short social run on any type of bike.
