Photos from the Somerset Levels Run 2023

:

I was a bit concerned that the turn out would be low for this run as there were 2 other local events, but 21 bikes plus 5 pillions signed on! I was pleased to welcome a group of 6 bikes and a Lomax from the Somerset Section.

The Virginia Ash opened to provide coffee and excellent bacon rolls. Tony, the owner, showed me his collection of bikes, he is clearly a man of good taste as his latest purchase is a Moto Morini  3 1/2!

So off we set for a run of about 20 miles to our next stop at Yandles in Bower Hinton, excellent cakes in case you are passing.

Our next section of 20 miles followed the River Parrett’s route through fields and villages that often flood, but no such worries today as the weather was beautiful. We followed the ‘sea wall’ through Oath and Stathe and passed one of the pumping stations to Burrowbridge.

We then crossed Langacre Rhyne to the wonderful series of bends to our next stop at Bere Lane Cider Farm, VMCC members do, of course, ride on their stomachs!

Then back to the Virginia Ash via the picturesque Yeovilton Weir.

I hope everyone enjoyed the day over roads unfamiliar to the Dorset Section.
