I was sorry to have missed the V &V, especially Carols excellent buffet! Hope Rod didn’t make them go up the steep side of Ham Hill. Thanks to Rod and Carol for the effort they put in for so few riders, quite why that is when Giants is capped at 100 and is always oversubscribed is very puzzling. Rod’s report below.,
Sunday 20th September saw the 48th running of the Veteran and Vintage Run now based at Leigh Village Hall. Just 11 bikes took part on a bright and sunny day. Everyone assembled and had coffee/tea and biscuits before leaving on a 25 mile circular route which took them to the Ham Hill Visitor Centre just outside Yeovil. More consumption of tea and coffee accompanied by much motorcycle chat before riders made the 20 mile return route back to Leigh.
Back at the start there was much more bike chat before 28 people sat down to a cold lunch prepared by Carol. Following that was the prizegiving and our Section President was on hand to dish out the prizes to the following:-
Most Desirable Veteran Machine = Dave Atterbury 1914 Precision
Most Desirable Vintage Machine = David Orman 1927 Sunbeam Model 9
Best Threewheeler = not presented (none)
The Bovenizer Trophy (Greatest combined age of rider and machine) = Dave Atterbury
The Most Original Machine = Colin Bentham 1926 Norton Model 18
Ladies Award = not presented (none)
Next year we shall do it all again so come on the lady riders and the threewheeler brigade where are you.
