Well third time lucky! After cancelling this run twice due to bad weather today dawned fine, roads were dry and frost free, so the run was on! The event that never stops giving did have one last go at putting a spanner in the works. When doing a final check on Saturday we found a road closure was still in force, even though I was assured the work would be completed in plenty of time. Route sheets therefore had to be amended and reprinted.
Most Sat Nav users managed the detour except Ken – but that’s to be expected!
Anyway, 16 bikes signed on, including one prospective new member, riding a Kawasaki 750 H2, that looked far too good for the Somerset lanes. He assured me that the typical VMCC route didn’t put him off and he will be back for more, we’ll look forward to seeing him again.
The route was only 35 miles and everyone made it to the Virginia Ash safely. It was good to see Maurice McGladdery at the pub and know that he is making a good recovery from his recent illness.
Looks like Spring is a bit closer so dust that bike off and get out there!
