King Alfred’s Tower

If there was an annual Section prize for “Best Run Route of the Year”, I reckon Ray would have won it following yesterday’s Memorial Run.  A 51 mile route starting from the Virginia Ash, Henstridge and ending at Moto Corsa, Gillingham via Wincanton, Stourhead, Mere, the Deverills, Sutton Veny, Shear Water and King Alfred’s Tower.  Many thanks Ray!

22 signed on and, as this run was in aid of Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C), we raised £155 for the charity.  In addition, Paul Miles lent one of his bikes to Alex, a Twitter friend; he was also raising money for SU2C, and he raised a whopping £810.  Well done to everyone who helped make this happen.

Some of us stopped off at King Alfred’s Tower for refreshments at The Alpine Coffee Company , run by a nice chap who serves excellent coffee from his solar powered caravan and is open Tuesday to Sunday 10 to 4 in the winter months.  Seems he loved our bikes….especially the Ariel’s : clearly a man with good taste.
