Fantastic run today in unbelievable weather for this time of year. We had 11 riders and 2 pillions/passengers and several others just came to the start at The Farmyard Kitchen, well the bacon rolls are very good!
The route was similar to last year going through Charlton Hawthorne, Wincanton, Bruton, Evercreech and Oakhill to arrive at the Rocky Mountain Cafe. I changed the route slightly to avoid crossing over the terrible crossroads on the A37, I think it did work better.
The Rocky Mountain Cafe was quite busy but the delays for food were not excessive and as usual the staff are very obliging. We met up with some of our friends from Somerset Section at the cafe, including Chairman Colin, always a pleasure.
Then we headed for home via Shepton, Castle Cary, Queen Camel and Marston Magna to finish back at The Farmyard Kitchen. There was terrible traffic congestion around the Showground with long queue’s of traffic luckily in the opposite direction. President Marie was going to meet us for lunch but unfortunately got in the traffic so turned round and had to settle for a sausage roll from Kimbers Farm Shop.
Altogether a very pleasant day out, and I have to say I’m warming to the Norton, today it ran very nicely and is nearly run in – it may be a keeper!

Our next run is Bernard’s Autumn Leaves Run on Sunday 11 October, 11.00 from The Virginia Ash, Henstridge, BA8 0PL, assuming he gets back from Spain in one piece. Also, and very importantly, our AGM is on Saturday 17 October at 11.30 after our monthly breakfast meeting at The Old Brewery, Gillingham. Please come along to say what our club is doing right and what we could do better. Please also give some thought to what you could do to help, maybe organising a run or a lunch time meeting or in any other capacity. We look forward to seeing you.
