Photos from the March Hare Run 2023

:

11 signed on for the run, not a disappointment, but I expected a bigger turnout. Something to do with 5°C air temperature perhaps. It was on the chilly side, in fact it only warmed to 6.5°C, which was definitely cooler than my February Winter run. Ray Dickinson had the answer with a string vest, I had my new Gerbing electric gloves, powered by the bikes battery. At least the road were dry and fairly clean, so we could crack on and concentrate on riding and forget the temperature.

We arrived at the Nunny Catch café in good time, last orders 1.00 pm. The place was surprising busy and quite a queue built up. Most of us had a “proper” cooked meal, but our Chairman, Paul Miles chose “Spotted Dick”, not as an afters but that’s all for his lunch, no further comment! I think most of us went straight home after the meal rather than return to Blandford. I went a fairly direct route via Gillingham, shared by our chairman, I followed him to the outskirts of Gillingham, but he turned off on the back road through Thorngrove, but where the back road meets the main road on the other side of Gillingham, he was behind me! No doubt he will tell you he stopped for a coffee.

I am still having worries about my Denso alternator behaviour. The ammeter suddenly shows a discharge, sometimes it indicates the alternator is charging again, but if I flick off/on the feed switch to the alternator exciter, it immediately starts charging. I checked the battery voltage when back home, it recorded 13 volts, so I reckon fully charged, think I’ll look for a new control unit.
