We were a bit disappointed to be allocated to the Mendip Hall for our stand, but in actual fact being next to a tap and away from open doors and under heaters it was reasonably pleasant. Well, by Bath & West Showground standards. We had an extremely busy Saturday with loads of cake being sold and lots of interest in our displayed bikes. Sunday wasn’t quite as busy but that’s normal.
But the total raised for charity was extraordinary, last year it was £280 so nearly double this year!! A massive thanks has to go to Andrew and Ray for organising the weekend, and for their enthusiasm throughout.
We did hear that Mortons have sold the entire business, magazines and shows, so it will be interesting to see how the show differs next year – if indeed it does go ahead at all.
Andrew’s report on the show is below, thanks to Paul W for additional photos.
Remember our next run is next SATURDAY 1st March, 11.00 from Lo’s Cafe, Pimperne.
On behalf of Chairman Ray and myself we wish to thank all our section’s hard workers for the massive efforts exerted to create a successful event, for the many to enjoy .
Firstly the hard work has generated some £540 for the Air Ambulance!!
To avoid a very long list I will not mention names (you know who you are). Primarily to all those who baked and provided the wonderful cakes (Ladies and Gentlemen) which attracted a returning custom that is International in nature and that received compliments from a Multiple European Trials Champion to not name but one. A certain Gentleman donated a a very high quality selection of books and magazines which also attracted many donations and further gifts from members kept the visitors occupied rummaging on the table. Finally to all the reliable Section workers who polished and lent us an eclectic selection of motorcycles to view, something for everyone, and then assisted with the erection (stop giggling) and then dismantling of our stand.
The new Dorset Section Gilets were commented on in a complimentary sense on many occasions, our new upmarket image for 2025, they will be out again later in the season. To each and every one of you THANKYOU and very well done.
