Yes, it was a bit cold this morning! We had a heavy frost overnight and the temperture was only 0 C when I left home. But then the mist cleared and the sun came out so the run was pleasant, note the blue sky in the above photo.
We welcomed Steve and Di from Shepton Mallett on their first run with Dorset Section, in total 6 people signed on, and a few others came for a chat at Teals. I was pleased to see 3 Italian bikes out of the 6 on the run, shows they’re not for summer use only.
We then did a similar run to last year, through North Cadbury and Bruton then North Brewham and over the top to Maiden Bradley. We then went through Zeals to Wincanton then through Buckhorn Weston to the Virginia Ash. A total of 41 miles with no mishaps as far as I am aware.
Only 3 riders stopped for lunch but were joined by 4 more club members who wisely drove a car. Very pleasant lunch, The Virginia Ash seems to be getting more business now so they hopefully won’t join the vast number of pubs being forced to close.
Remember that we have our second lunch time Club Meeting this Wednesday 12 February at The Halsey. The speaker, at 1.00, will be Dr Henry Goodall talking about the New Forest Airfields. If you wish to have some lunch then the pub should be open from about 11.45.
