Luckily the weather was kinder than the picture above, a lovely picuture of the Stour valley in winter. I am not able to ride at the moment so was not in attendance so, sorry, no pictures as Bernie had run out of film for his box brownie. I said you’d miss me when I’m gone! Anyway good to see that Bernard wasn’t on his own, his report below.
I arrived early in order to deal with the hoard of participants, but alas they must have got lost, or was there a special football match on?
Our pre run gathering in the Udder shop was attended by our honorary president Marie , our treasurer Howard, both non riding, and Paul M not able to take part on the run but did arrive on his Condor( good to see some Italian engineering in my absence). That left the 3, yes just 3 of us! Barry all the way from Verwood on his R60, Andrew on his MZ and myself Honda CL 350 Street Scrambler mounted.
Andrew shot off in front, but we caught up with him when he was delayed by a horse rider, the only one I am pleased to say. Barry and I proceeded toward Gillingham, turned off to Marjeston, a couple of lanes were a bit muddy, through Buckhorn Weston and the long open road to Templecombe. Then across to Milborne Port, I think that was where Andrew got his left and right mixed up, I was not far behind, so put him right and led from there. Wonderful open view to the West on the approach to Milborne Port. Down to Goathill, bit more mud on the road and across towards Stoulton Caundle. Good B roads now to Stalbridge and our familiar Landshire Lane south of Henstridge. Turn off at Fifhead Magdelen, over the Stour at Trill bridge (bad memories here, got the Focus flooded some years ago) and back on the main roads to the Udder Shop.
The 3 of us stayed for a drink and snack before departing for home. The weather was cool and dry, not really cold, no wind no ice and snow, bit of surface water here and there, certainly not difficult conditions, so where were you all !!!
Our next run is my Valentines Run on Sunday 9th February from Teals Farmshop. I will be back riding by then so see you all there.
