Report by Ray Dickinson:
Hello All,
We have just returned from a trip to the Peak District in which we rode the Pennine Way, a 500 mile three day event run by the Pennine section of the VMCC.
.
Day 1 . Starting at Edale Derbyshire, the route follows the Pennine Way walkers Trail as close as possible, with some challenging hills such as The Snake Pass, Holme Moss, and Buttertubs. Using mainly high level roads with spectacular and rugged scenery.
The first day was about 150 miles stopping at Hawes where we had a B&B and an evening meal and get together at Wensleydale Creamery
Day 2. 100 miles to the Greenhead Hotel the other side of Hadrians Wall for a presentation and received a commemorative china mug. After light refreshments it was time to say good bye and start our return ride back to Hawes. We took the faster and spectacular A689 back to our B&B 175 mile day.
Day 3. We returned to Hope Valley campsite where we had left the camper vans.
Three days ridding old bikes 500 miles with 60 other members this is what the club is all about. Our thanks to the Pennine section for making us welcome and putting on the event.
