Amazing the effect a bit of sun has as we had 19 bikes plus 5 pillions sign on for this years Autumn Run. It really was a beautiful day which tempted some long distance participants. Chris and Carol travelled down from Burnham On Sea in their Lomax, and Neil from Poole on his gorgeous Kawasaki Z1, he is also a Laverda Jota owner so’s not all bad!

Unfortunately our Treasurer was one notable absence as he broke down a few miles from home.

I had only advised Blackmarsh Farm Cafe that we would probably have 10 – 12 bikes so we rather overwhelmed them, but they did very well in coping with the drinks orders.

We set off on a 27 mile run to the Rocky Mountain Nursery Cafe via Charlton Hawthorne, Wincanton, Bruton and Evercreech. All went smoothly and I don’t think anyone got lost, except for Ray and Linda about 0.2 miles from the start!

I think we all enjoyed lunch and were looked after very well by the very friendly staff, they even commented at how much they enjoyed serving us and said they would like to see us again in the future. Everyone, surprisingly, must have behaved themselves for a change!

A straight forward route of 25 miles was then taken back to Sherborne via Shepton Mallett, Castle Cary, Queen Camel and Marston Magna.

Excellent day out with perfect weather, good catering and plenty of good company, just what a VMCC run should be like.

Thanks to Paul W for additional photos.

Our next run is the Autumn Leaves Run on Sunday 13 October, 11.00 from the Virginia Ash at Henstridge.
