Photos from the Blandford Run 2024

An excellent attendance for Phil’s first Blandford Run after the sad loss of our friend Peter Miller. The weather forecast was not very encouraging and it was actually raining when I left home, but Blandford was, as usual(?) sunny if a little breezy!

Lo’s Cafe was a new starting point and will, I think, definitely be used in the future, and lunch at East Creech Tea Rooms was also very pleasant. An added bonus at East Creech was a gathering a WW2 vehicles, with many of their owners suitably attired.

Thanks to Phil for taking on the organisation of the Blandford Run and for a very pleasant day out. Some words from Phil.

We started off at a new venue Lo’s cafe in Pimperne just outside Blandford, we had 18 sign on and 21 paid so some discrepancy somewhere l thought l counted 23 bikes but maths was not my strong point, with another 5 turned up to see us off

Many of us had a bacon sandwich to see us on our way

The run went into Blandford past the Corn Exchange in memory of our passed friend Peter Miller then over towards Milton Abbas then Winterborne Stickland onto Bovington and onto the Creech Tea rooms (more tea and cake, well someone has to eat it!!), many went off from there but Will, Bernard and myself went via Worgret Heath, Winterborne Kingstone, Blandford and back to Lo’s in Pimperne for an end of ride beer. Total distance was 60 miles and thankfully the weather stayed dry with a bit of sunshine on route. I think a good day was had by all and a good turnout of riders from Bournemouth and all over the County. It was very pleasing to see Richard Millers daughter wanting to come out with us, hopefully only a few more years before we see her on her Vintage Royal Enfield joining the runs.

Remember our Bluebell Run on the 21 April is the next run and with Ken organising it Bluebell’s are guaranteed!
